CASE STUDY: THE SANTA CRUZ RIVER, TUCSON, ARIZONA.
- Use of groundwater by the city of Tucson has resulted in
aquifer depletion in the Santa Cruz valley.
- The Santa Cruz river used to be an intermittent river, with abundant riparian habitats.
- At present the Santa Cruz river is an ephemeral river,
and the riparian habitats have disappeared.
