• There is a lot more groundwater than surface water.

• However, surface water replenishes every twelve (12) days on the average.

• On the other hand, groundwater may take a long time to replenish.

• Some deep confined aquifers may take centuries and even millennia to replenish.

• Fossil groundwaters are mined; they cannot recover.
