LAB No. 9
- An orifice is to be designed to have a change in pressure of Δp =
2000 lbs/ft2 across the orifice, for a discharge of Q = 100 cfs in a pipe of diameter D = 4 ft.
The temperature of the water is 60oF.
What orifice diameter (to 0.1 ft accuracy) will yield the desired discharge?
- What is the discharge Q for a drop of Δh = 10 m through an orifice of diameter 0.25 and pipe diameter 1 m. Assume
T = 20°C.
- What is the drop Δh (m) for a discharge of 0.6 m3/s through an orifice of diameter 0.25 and pipe diameter 1 m. Assume
T = 20°C.
- Determine the discharge through the hydraulic system shown below.
Assume entrance loss coefficient Ke = 0.12 and bend loss coefficient Kb = 0.35.
Locate the point of maximum and minimum pressures along the line.
Calculate the maximum and minimum pressures.
