KNOWN ADDRESS

In the spring of 2003, during a visit to Tlaxiaco, in Oaxaca, Mexico, I was approached by a gentleman from the nearby hamlet of Los Angeles. He invited me to come to his town and give a talk of dry ecological latrines.

I accepted, promised to do it on my next visit, and proceeded to take his name and address.

He said: "Eugenio Dominguez Cruz, known [person], Barrio Los Angeles, San Miguel del Progreso."

I insisted: "What is your address?"

To which he responded: "known address."

I then realized that in a small town a formal address is usually not necessary.
