I developed a case of
hydrocele
testis about three months ago.
My doctor told me that the causes were unknown and that there
was no cure. He recommended that I should live with it;
if it bothered me too much, I could have it removed surgically,
but the affliction would probably recur. I scheduled a visit to the surgeon
and got an appointment for two months later. That was my first
lucky break. My second lucky break was a gathering of our family;
we live apart due to job demands, but get together regularly.
My son recommended that I try a vegan diet; my daughter searched the web
for natural
cures for the affliction, and found that a strict diet
of fruit and vegetables for 10 days may actually work to cure the ailment.
I read a few references on veganism and natural cures and decided that I was
going to try it; maybe I did not have to visit the surgeon after all.
The fix was worth trying, particularly because conventional medicine had not been helpful.
I went on a one-week fruit-and-vegetable diet, and followed with a vegan diet, with
occasional fish, particularly when dining out. Two weeks later I noticed a marked reduction
in the volume of the affliction;
the reduction continued gradually, disappearing after 10 weeks.
In the meantime, I cancelled my visit to the surgeon and visited my doctor
(after 8 weeks) to show him the progress of my self-treatment.
To my surprise and that of my doctor's, my bad cholesterol level, which was 176
at the previous physical six months ago, had dropped to 126, now clearly within normal.
All the while, my weight dropped by 15 lbs.
The cause-effect relation cannot be dismissed. I write this short story to share it,
through the power of the web, with other
hydrocele-afflicted patients so that they may too try this natural way of self healing,
without having to resort to medication or surgery.
