Re: Sponsorhip of Ms. FLOR PEREZ

Dear Sirs:

I am writing this letter to further document my sponsorship of Ms. Flor Perez to pursue her educational goals in the United States. Ms. Perez has applied for a change in her nonimmigration status to F-1.

The requested documentation (bank statements) are enclosed to this letter. Checking, Savings, and Money Market acsount statements are shown four the past four months (items 1, 2 and 3 attached). I have recently transferred liquid assets hald in a money market account from Washington Mutual Bank to Bank of America. The Money Market account No. 12168-68700 in Bank of America, held jointly with my wife, has a current balance of $60,000 (item 4 attached).

I am Ms. Perez's sponsor while she pursues her higher education goals in the United States. I have offered her room and board, and will pay for all her school expenses, including tuition, books, and other incidental expenses. Room and board is the equivalent of $1000 per month, for a total of $12,000 per year. Tuition and books amount to $6,000 per year. Our support is for a total of at least $18,000 per year.

To back the financial commitment, I offer the following statement of facts:

  1. I have been employed with San Diego State University for the past 28 years. My title is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and my yearly salary is $106,800. My monthly take-home salary, after taxes, is $4,806.

  2. I have owned the same house, jointly with my wife Jane, at 13386 Samantha Ave, in San Diego, for the past 27 years. The house is currently worth about $550,000, and we hold a mortgage for $143,884 (item 5 attached). Therefore, our real estate asset is in excess of $406,000.

  3. I have a guaranteed individual retirement account (IRA) with TIAA-CREF, with a net balance of $201,120 as of October, 2008 (item 6 attached).

  4. I hold title to three cars (GMC make), jointly with my wife, with a combined Kelley Blue book retail value of $34,800.

  5. I own furniture and household items is in excess of $200,000.

  6. The combined net worth is in excess of $800,000, including liquid assets, real estate holdings, and individual retirement account.
